About Us
J. Colangelo & Son, Inc. has been serving the Central Massachusetts area in general building construction services for over thirty years. George and Joseph Colangelo co-founded Colangelo Construction Company in 1964 and literally built the company from the ground up. In 1970, Colangelo Construction became incorporated and took the firm name "J.Colangelo & Son, Inc." with George serving as president of the corporation and Joseph as Treasurer. Joseph retired in 1983, after twenty years of procuring and managing much of the company's public work contracts, thereby making George president and treasurer. In 1987 Matthew Colangelo, the third generation, joined the firm and, today, holds the position of vice president.
Since its inception, J. Colangelo & Son, Inc. has been performing general construction services, both new and renovation, for commercial, institutional, and industrial venues without fail. Construction of new buildings include banks, senior citizens centers, car washers, elderly housing, police stations, and fire stations. A great deal of renovation projects have been completed for such clients as Worcester Polytechnic Institute, UMASS Medical Center, New England Telephone, and virtually every city or town in Central Massachusetts for such projects as schools, libraries, fire/police stations, housing authorities, and such. Today a balance of public and private, competitive, construction management, or design/ build work is maintained with the same amount of care, pride, quality and attention to detail given to each project. Our business philosophy we have instituted as the cornerstone of our business is to construct the best possible structure that meets or exceeds the clients' expectations while fostering a lasting relationship with the client. We accomplish that with trust, integrity, and good hard work so that a high level of comfort develops between the owner and our firm. We understand that construction projects invariably cause as much stress and chaos as excitement for the client. That's why we feel that one thing the client should not have to worry about is how the project is handled, the quality of work, and schedule. During a project, we try to relieve that worry - "if you have to worry, then we aren't doing our job".
